Broadway At Otis Drive Alameda, Ca - Alameda
Good Morning Mayor Spencer,
Please ask your traffic control staff to install a left turn arrow light at the two intersections listed below. Alameda traffic has increased significantly over the past few years. The left arrow turn lights would improve the flow of traffic and safety at these intersections.Intersections:
1) Broadway at Otis - traffic coming from the East end turning South on Otis, there is already a left turn lane, we just need to install the left turn only light and a yield after on the green light. I've seen the traffic coming from Shoreline, which has the right of way to turn right, stopping for the traffic turning left - this sets up an unsafe situation.Thank you!

Kitty Hawk Road And Franciscan Way Alameda, CA 94501 - Alameda
Dear Ms. Ashcroft,
It was a pleasure meeting you this morning and introducing you to my students and staff with Ms. Harris.
I would like the city to look into improving safety and ADA compliance at the intersection of Franciscan and Kitty Hawk, a major thoroughfare to Wood Middle School.
As you can see from the attached photos, there is no cross walk or stop sign at this intersection, impacting safety for students and others using this route to come to school. In addition, there is no curb cut at the corner for persons with disabilities, which forces them to cross in the middle of the intersection rather than at the corner.
This impacts my special day class students every week, when we go on our walking field trips to South Shore. Some of my students have visual and physical disabilities, including wheelchair dependence, in addition to cognitive delays. With no curb cut or cross walk at the corner, it is very difficult for my class to navigate this intersection safely.
I hope that the City of Alameda will study this issue and move forward quickly to bring the intersection into compliance. My students and the entire Wood Middle School community will be grateful.
Respectfully yours,
Holly Singh

2421 Encinal Ave C Alameda, CA 94501 - AlamedaI would like three feet of the curb in front of my building towards my driveway to be painted red. Two cars are using parking for one car and hanging in my driveway. I have almost been hit twice getting out of the driveway because it blocks the vision of oncoming traffic.

Central Ave At Sixth St Alameda, Ca - AlamedaDear Transportation Commissioners,
I am writing in regards to item 5-B on the November 18th Transportation Commission agenda. I am disappointed to see that Sixth and Central Avenue is not planned to have a Rectangular Rapid Fire Beacon. According to the City’s own records, there have been four pedestrian injuries at this intersection. Yet, Rectangular Rapid Fire Beacons will be installed at intersections that have had no pedestrian injuries. There was just another injury accident last week. A motorist rear-ended another motorist who had stopped for a pedestrian at this intersection. If a Rectangular Rapid Fire Beacon is not be installed at this intersection, please explain why. There is a church, school and daycare center on Sixth Street near Central. Many pedestrians cross Central at Sixth. The number of pedestrian injuries at this intersection should send a strong message as to the need for a beacon. It would also help to protect motorists and bicyclists from rear-end collisions as occurred last week. Please install a safety beacon at Central and Sixth.
Regards,
Steve Gerstle -

Webster Street At Eagle Avenue 94501, Alameda, California - Alameda
Mr. Gerstle is requesting pedestrian improvements at Webster/Eagle. I have copied and pasted his email below.
Hi Alan,
Regardless, could the crossing please be evaluated for pedestrian upgrades? APD has conducted a significant number of pedestrian stings at this intersection and written many tickets for crosswalk violations at this intersection. The crossing covers five lanes and has only the barest minimum of crosswalk markings. There are many apartments in the area. APD should have a record of how many tickets have been written at this location. I believe that there was a vehicle crash there within the past few days.
Demolition and construction is taking place at 1901 Webster street. City records show that Peet's Coffee and Tea have active permits. That will add additional vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic to the area. It is my understanding from a WABA board member that plans include a drive thru.
Best,
Steve
