The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request #648840. Please check back for status updates, or contact us directly at 510-615-5566.
They return to the same place because Oakland is not issuing stay away orders. Instead of realizing what the homeless do, they act like the problem doesn't exist. You need to call over, over and over again. Guess no one is responsible for all the stolen goods.
That figures, so something violent has to happen to have them removed, doesn't matter if they have stolen goods or a unsanitary health issue, or numerous complaints. Things need to change.
We all have to be very careful dealing with these people. They have nothing to lose and there advocates attorneys will be happy to make examples out of anyone they think is treading on these vagrants so called rights to break numerous laws. Please make yourselves as familiar with all the laws and muni-codes they are violating. Most of which the police and judges have not had time to learn. Good starting point muni-codes 9.08.160, 9.08.170, 9.08.180 these are the sit lye laws. Please be careful out there.
Neighbors are going to our NCPC meeting tomorrow at the Fruitvale/ San Antonio Senior Center 3301 E12th # 201 (second floor) to discuss this encampment with our Beat officers. Meeting is at 6:30pm we hope someone or some group who uses the park, will come so we can meet and work on a combined effort to clean up Union Point Park
