The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request #586081. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Chapman St needs to be on the Pothole Blitz Blitz. Jingletown?/South Kennedy Trac has not been an industrial area for 10 YEARS We have a residential population of over 2000K in a 4x4 block area.
The area has not been industrial for longer than 10 years... the City just finally recognized the fact that industry didn't want the properties here and changed the zoning for the area 10 years ago. In the 35 years I have been in Jingletown we have seen industry close and die here with little to replace it. It's just taken the City a while to get off their collective duffs and recognize the fact.
These potholes are a major hazard. Chapman Street is riddled with them. When I lived in Adams Point near Lake Merritt for 30 years issues like these were resolved in a timely fashion. Why is the City of Oakland not paying attention to this neighborhood as well? Could it be because this is a poorer section of Oakland? Please respond. Thank you.
