Description
This intersection is not designed for pedestrians despite it being at a major bus line stop and a necessary crossing to get from the east end to Park Street or the waterfront at Nob Hill. The other day I arrived at the intersection while the cars going in the perpendicular were given a yellow light and pressed the beg button immediately. I was a second too late, and the cars running parallel to me were able to go without me having a walk signal. Rather than waiting an entire full light cycle (which would have caused me to miss my bus), I walked through the crosswalk, having plenty of time to do so but without a walk signal. This was dangerous, and put my life at risk if cars felt they could turn ahead of me since I didn't have a walk signal. Why are cars being given priority here? I'm inclined not to take the bus now since it takes me 5 minutes to walk 100 feet. Instead, I'll drive my car and add to the traffic nightmare.
